Buying flooring top tips!

Room Measuring Draw a simple outline of the room(s) and where the room entrances are located. Carefully measure the room(s) you want to cover with new flooring. Try and use metric measurements. Imperial measurements will need to be converted to metric (round up to nearest 3") Feet (i.e. 3' 3" enter as 3.25) Metres Note: 1 Foot = .3048 Metres. Use a metal measuring tape and write down both the width and length of the room(s). Be sure to include closets and any other areas that will need flooring. The width x length will give you the square metres you will need. i.e. Room (8.5 Mtrs x 6 mtrs = 51 sq mtrs) + Closet (1.3 mtrs x 1.2 mtrs) = 2.5 sq mtrs) = Total 53.5 sq metres needed. The total square meters needed will then be divided by how much each pack covers, to give you the total number of packs you will need. (each pack usually covers between 2.5 & 3 sq meters) Struggling? Things to note. What are the adjoining rooms and what flooring is currently in those areas. How much natural sunlight enters the room, which direction the room faces and any sliding patio doors. Whenever possible take out any furniture and drapery fabrics from the room(s) Think about how much trafic the room gets each day? Consider what the room is used for? Bear in mind if you have children and pets when deciding what floor you want? What are your personal expectations for the flooring? How long do you want it to last? Are you living with this new flooring or planning to sell your home?
